NPC Location Compass is a popular add-on for Stardew Valley. It allows you to show NPCs on-screen, with compass needles that show the direction and distance from the player's current position in the map.
The mod was developed by a fan and made available for free. You can now install it in your game without the need to change anything.
There are options in the config.json file that you can change to customize the display of the compass. You can set it to show the location of NPCs in your game, in addition to the direction and distance from your current location.
